Famously Single (Ep.2 Review)

The new episode of Famously Single was actually pretty interesting.

The celebrities were scheduled to go on a couple’s cruise and since they’re all single, they had to go out and find dates. Dr. Darcy and their new dating coaches, Laurel House and Robert Mack, let them lose on this random street and it was up to them to find a stranger that would be willing to accompany them on the cruise.

This was actually pretty interesting and funny to watch. They’re used to being approached, not doing the approaching, and you could definitely tell. They all struggled with finding out who to approach, how to approach them and what to say to get them to agree to be their date. It was really entertaining to watch, but one thing that I didn’t enjoy watching was Aubrey backing out of the challenge. I got the impression that she felt like she was above the task, which was counterproductive because if you’re not going to participate than why even come on the show and waste their time and yours? I didn’t understand that one.

Even though they all struggled, I thought that Brandi was the most social of the whole group. It was awkward, of course, but she seemed really comfortable with striking up a conversation. She got turned down a couple times (like everyone else), but she bounced back and went back in. I liked watching them participate in that activity because it made them all seem a lot more down to earth.

We also got to see Dr. Darcy meet with two more celebs. She met with Brandi and we got to see how much her divorce from Eddie Cibrian really impacted her life. She also said a couple things about Aubrey and Somaya. I agree with her in regards to Aubrey, but not Somaya. Speaking of Aubrey, I really didn’t care for her in this episode.

At the beginning of the episode, she came off as holier-than-thou and by the end of the episode, she made herself the victim. As I said earlier, she backed out of the exercise because she didn’t see the point in doing it, but because she didn’t have a date of her own, she ended up crashing everyone else’s dates. It looked very awkward, but I did laugh a little when Brandi’s date didn’t recognize her. I thought it needed to be done because she needed to be brought back down to Earth.

She made everything about her and when Dr. Darcy called her out on her faults, she tried to turn it around on someone else to make herself the victim. She even pulled out the tears. To be honest, I don’t even know why I’m surprised because I’ve seen her on several other reality shows and she did the same exact thing. It’s just her. Aubrey just comes off as being really self centered and I don’t know if that’s really her or if her actions are scripted.

Overall, the episode was good (minus watching Aubrey put on a show) and they all learned some valuable lessons on how to properly treat and approach people.
