Another new episode of Suspect aired tonight and, if I’m being completely honest, it was a let down.
The cases are starting to get a little repetitive. Nothing shocking is happening, so, while I am slightly interested in seeing what secrets each episode contains, I’m slowly starting to lose interest in the show. I think the only way to add some excitement to the show is to add some drama but, sadly, I don’t think Nev and iO are ones that openly seek drama. They seem like the type that like to leave their guests happy and in a good place, which is good, but, at the same time, when it happens every episode, the viewers pretty much already know how each episode will end. It’s boring.
But, I’ll break down each case so that you guys can get an idea of what may or may not have happened during the episode.
Case 1: This case brought Nev and iO to Flint, MI. While in Flint, they met with a woman named Stevie, who had become suspicious of her best friend, Elizabeth. Because Elizabeth had been acting distant; going out in the middle of the night; getting texts from a bunch of random numbers; and was in possession of a large amount of condoms, Stevie assumed that she was an escort. This case barely held my attention. It was slightly sad because of all that had been going on in Flint in the past few years and, also, because of the situation that Elizabeth was in, but, overall, I wasn’t impressed. I felt like I’d seen that same storyline in a previous episode.
Case 2: For this case, the show went to Atlanta, GA. When they got to ATL, they met with Aaron, who started to suspect that his adoptive sister, Mechelle, was into drugs. According to him, her appearance had started to go downhill, she always looked tired and she never came around their family. After sniffing around for a couple days, they finally ended up calling her (which is what they always do) and scheduling a time and place to meet. When they got there, they found out the truth and, once again, I got a feeling of deja vu. I’d seen this storyline before. One thing that I will say about Mechelle’s case is that she had multiple segments to her secret. It wasn’t just one big thing, she actually had quite a few things that she needed to reveal to her brother (and her family). That brought a little bit of excitement, but not enough to save the whole episode.
Overall, I’m starting to lose interest in this show. I don’t know how many episodes they’ll have for this season, but I’m going to try to stick it out and watch it all the way through. Hopefully, something shocking will happen and I’ll, once again, be sucked in.
